Josef's Advice on Crows to Thomas

- Crows are smart, crafty and caniving.
- Crows never forget a face. Those damn yellow eyes are as sharp as a hawks. They are always watching.
- A crow will tell other crows (and their young) about those faces who mean them harm. They only live ten years, but the colony will recognize you forever.
- Crows protect family - especially their young. They will threaten, attack and kill to protect their babies.

Howard messed with them when he was tending the corn fields on my property. He would shoot at them everyday. One day, he followed them to their nesting site. He thought that if he were to kill them and their young, he would be able to encourage the whole mess of them to move on. There were thousands of them. He spent hours killing crow after crow. He didn't give up until he'd killed many of the young ones. He shot up into there nests. The old fool even climbed up on some of the trees to shoot even more nests. Finally, crows by the hundreds began their coordinated attack on Howard. He finally retreated to his home. From that day on, crows would attack Howard anytime that he'd be outside. Crows only live ten years, but the older crows told the young ones. Among the crow's community, he'd become a hated man. Eventually, he went crazy and became a drunken old fool. To this day, he is stilled attacked by crows.
